Angela Puerta
Singer-songwriter originally from Colombia, Angela Puerta grew up in Ibague, Tolima, a city known as Colombia’s musical capital. Her musical heritage is full of African, and Indigenous influences that painted the path of most Colombian traditional music since Spanish colonization. From an early age, Angela started performing Rock-Pop music by Alanis Morrissette, Soda Estereo, Janis Joplin, The Cranberries and Shakira. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in architecture, Angela moved to Gold Coast, Australia, in 2011 to learn the English language. During her time there, Angela expanded her music career getting into salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia and other Latin American genres. Since then, Angela moved to Madison in 2013 and has been performing with a wide variety of Latin groups.
